MRI Safety
Your Safety, Our Concern
The MRI scanner’s powerful magnetic field poses specific safety risks, especially with ferromagnetic materials or certain experimental setups. To ensure the highest safety standards for participants and staff and to minimize the risk of damage to the MRI scanner, all researchers working at CORE GIfMI must:
- Complete the MRI Safety Training organized by CORE GIfMI
- Undergo a Safety Screening by the MRI Safety Responsible before receiving access to the facility
All study participants and anyone entering the scanner room are thoroughly screened for contraindications following the MRI Safety Standard Operating Procedures using a standard safety form.

Initial MRI Safety Training
1. Schedule Your MRI Safety Training
- Complete the MRI Safety Training Application Form.
- You'll receive a confirmation email and instructions from the MR Safety Responsible
- to select a date for the on-site training - reply with your preferences and confirm your attendance.
- with the link to the e-learning module - completion is mandatory before attending the on-site session.
2. Complete the E-Learning Module & MRI Safety Quiz
- Complete the form at the end of the e-learning module to confirm.
- You'll receive a link to the MRI Safety Quiz.
- A score of 80% or higher is required to pass.
3. Attend the On-site Demonstration
- Bring your completed MR Safety Screening Form to the session.
- Experience the power of the magnetic field in a safe, controlled setting.
Annual MRI Safety Training Renewal
- To maintain your MRI Safety Trained status you must complete an annual renewal.
- About one year after your initial training, you'll receive an email with an online renewal quiz.
- A score of at least 80% is required to pass and keep your certification.
